Matthew Lloyd re-lives the greatest sledge he ever gave

Matthew Lloyd has revealed the best sledge he ever gave.

Sledging has been on the agenda since it sparked a melee in the St Kilda v Carlton match in Round 7.

It prompted one 3AW listener to ask why players even need to sledge at all.

“If you kick a few goals, your full back just feels worse and worse,” Lloyd said on Friday night.

Lloyd said he once delivered a memorable sledge to North Melbourne defender Shannon Watt after kicking six goals in a quarter.

“Getting under somebody’s skin is part of some people’s sport repertoire,” Dwayne Russell said.

“They do it because it works.”
