Matthew Richardson and Tony Shaw debate controversial Elliot Yeo free kick

Matthew Richardson wasn’t a fan of the controversial holding the ball free kick paid against West Coast’s Elliot Yeo on Saturday.

The resultant free kick saw Jy Simpkin kick an important goal, as North Melbourne went on to record their first win of the season.

“I did not like (the free kick) at all,” Richo said on 3AW Football.

“He won the ball and tried to stand up off the ball and then got smashed in a tackle.”

In contrast, Tony Shaw said it was a free kick because Yeo tried to stand up in a tackle.
