Matthew Richardson reviews the poor umpiring standards from Collingwood’s heartbreaking loss
A debate has raged after Adelaide narrowly defeated Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval over umpiring and the quality of the officiating.
Incidents involving Mitchell Hinge being awarded a free kick despite kicking the ball out of bounds, and Riley Thilthorpe kicking the ball when the ball was out of bounds, went unpenalised.
“This was a case of the umpiring forgetting the rule,” Richardson said on 3AW Football.

“Thilthorpe clearly deliberately kicked that ball away when it was already out of bounds.
“That’s clearly a free kick.”
