Matthew Richardson says sacking Brendon Bolton would be a ‘disaster’ for Carlton
Matthew Richardson says Carlton must “stay the course” with Brendon Bolton as coach.
It comes after Caroline Wilson said Bolton was officially “under the pump” to keep his job.
However, speaking on Sportsday, Richardson said there was enough good news coming out of the club to show the players hadn’t given up on their coach.
“They’ve got to stay the course,” he said.
“I know it’s not quite working at the moment, but I see Charlie Curnow re-signing, talk of Patrick Cripps re-signing, Marc Murphy – who had an opportunity to leave – re-signing.
“That tells me the players are behind Brendon Bolton.
“Surely, history would show you that changing coaches every two or three years just doesn’t work?
“Have a look at Bomber Thompson at Geelong, Damien Hardwick at Richmond and I think we’re seeing it now with Nathan Buckley.
“You have to stay the course.
“If they change coaches again, it’ll be an absolute disaster.”
