Matthew Richardson’s left-field AFL marquee player idea

Matthew Richardson has floated a fresh idea which would see one player on each AFL list paid outside the salary cap.

He told 3AW Football it would allow more flexibility with playing lists, potentially allowing clubs to offer their best players more lucrative deals.

“Should the clubs have one player that could (be paid) outside of the salary cap,” he said.
