Max Gawn being ‘hurt’ by Melbourne’s off-season issues, according to Matthew Lloyd

Matthew Lloyd says Max Gawn’s captaincy is being let down by those around him.

Melbourne has been engulfed in several off-season issues in recent seasons, including the turmoil surrounding Joel Smith and the constant queries around Clayton Oliver’s off-field behaviour.

Lloyd told Wide World of Sports the constant distractions were now hurting the leaders of the Demons, including Gawn, coach Simon Goodwin and CEO Gary Pert.

“You can be hurt by those around you and your legacy can be hurt by those around you,” he said on 3AW.
