Melbourne legend David Schwarz says he’s been left devastated by Angus Brayshaw’s sudden retirement.

The 28-year-old was forced to give the game away on medical advice due to repeated head knocks, the most recent coming against Collingwood in last year’s Qualifying Final.

Schwarz says the situation “really sucks”, even more so considering Brayshaw’s standing in the game.

“I think is really sucks that a player like that has to give up the game because of a serious medical problem,” he told Tony Jones on 3AW Mornings, filling in for Tom Elliott.

“Then you’ve got other players that take the mickey out of the game and flaunt the rules and get to play.

“From a supporters point of view, it’s devastation he can’t play.”
