Mick Malthouse in hot water over comments about women’s football

AFLW forward Moana Hope has reportedly been left “disgusted” by comments made by Mick Malthouse at a lunch on Thursday.

The Herald Sun says it prompted Hope to walk out of the function at Ballarat.

Hope, who now plays with North Melbourne, was on a panel with Malthouse and Jason Akermanis.

Hope told The Herald Sun that Malthouse claimed football was a “man’s game” and that women should play a modified version of the sport without tackling.

Malthouse discussed how female players should have modified rules to reduce injuries and then likened the proposed new AFL 6-6-6 zone rule to a netball game with skirts.

Hope has taken to social media declaring she will never let anyone tell her, or any girl, that females don’t belong.
