Neil Mitchell and Fiona Patten clash over proposed new pandemic laws

Reason Party leader Fiona Patten admits she’s been surprised by the immediate blowback against the government’s controversial new proposed pandemic powers.

She told Neil Mitchell there was some “very positive” elements to the legislation.

Regardless, she said it “hadn’t got the thumbs up” from her yet.

“I know the devil will be in the detail, but I do think there are some very positive elements that you (Neil) have been calling for, and I have been calling for which is transparency and accountability,” Ms Patten said.

Neil Mitchell says elements of the bill are outrageous.

Fiona Patten: “I don’t know what people want?”

Neil Mitchell: “We want democracy! This is undemocratic.”
