Neil Mitchell blasts Attorney-General over claim youth crime crisis ‘doesn’t exist’
Neil Mitchell has taken aim at Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes after she yesterday said she didn’t “want a discussion about a youth crime crisis that doesn’t exist”.
In a statement provided to Neil Mitchell this morning, chief commissioner Shane Patton said “it is really alarming what we are seeing and a very significant concern”.

“Ok, don’t call it a crisis, call it a disaster, call it disgraceful, call it appalling, call it frightening, but don’t ignore it!,” the 3AW Mornings host said. “The police are doing everything they can but what hope of getting any help or understanding from a chaotic government when the chief law officer won’t even admit there’s a problem.”
The state’s latest crime statistics, unveiled last week, showed a 38.1 per cent in serious offending among 10 to 13-year-olds compared to pre-pandemic levels and a 26 per cent year-on-year rise among 14 to 17-year-olds.
