‘No one trusts you’: Matthew Lloyd’s theory on future of Jake Stringer

Essendon is continuing to hold firm on not offering Jake Stringer a two-year contract extension.

The club has encouraged Stringer to test the market to see if there’s another club willing to offer him a longer contract, with the Giants recently signalling their interest in exploring what is possible.

Lloyd told 3AW’s trade podcast that Essendon wouldn’t trust Stringer on or off the field, which could ultimately lead to his exit from the Bombers during the trade period.

“The talent (with Jake Stringer) is undeniable,” Lloyd said.

“But there’s everything else around that which lets him down.”
