‘No renegotiation’: Collingwood president’s blunt response to Tasmanian team talk
Collingwood president Jeff Browne has reiterated that a purpose-built stadium in Tasmania is required for the mooted AFL state in the state to become a reality.
As Tasmania prepares to head to the polls later this month, there’s been talk that both sides of government would look to re-negotiate terms on the $715m project.
Fresh from a presidents meeting ahead of the 2024 beginning in Sydney on Thursday night, Browne had a blunt message for any politician hoping to renege on the original deal for the AFL’s 19th license.

“They’ll be no renegotiation on terms (for the Tasmania stadium),” he told Sam McClure and Matthew Richardson on Wide World of Sports.
“That stadium has to be delivered for a team to play in the AFL and that’s fact. No stadium, no deal.”
