Olympic great backs ‘landmark’ decision on transgender swimmers

One of Australia’s greatest swimmers has backed a “landmark” decision from swimming’s world governing body to effectively ban transgender women from competing in women’s events.

Shane Gould told Neil Mitchell the issue struck at the “very heart of what sport is about” and had been an issue for a long time.

“FINA has made a landmark decision that other sports will probably look to,” the three-time gold medal winner told 3AW.
