Pies star Darcy Moore on what fans can expect in 2022

Sportsday

Collingwood vice captain Darcy Moore says new coach Craig McRae will allow players to express themselves in the season ahead.

“He’s not a dictatorial sort of coach,” Moore said on Sportsday.

“He’s pretty clear on his philosophies and how he wants to see us play, but he’s happy for us to express ourselves within that.”

Moore said he’s also been impressed how prized draft pick Nick Daicos has taken the weight of expectation “in his stride”.

Daicos, taken at pick number 2 in last years draft, showed what he was capable of in a practice match against Hawthorn, finding plenty of the ball and hitting the scoreboard.

“He’s got pretty extraordinary attributes, he’s a beautiful kick, beautifully skilled player,” Moore said.

“The way the modern game is now with such high pressure and such limited time and space, he’s a great decision maker, I think that will equip him really well.

“All you want from young players is them to come in and show you straight away what they’re good at, and there’s always gaps and holes, but you just want them to be eager to learn and have a positive attitude.”
