AFL’s new-look “respect and responsibility” policy explained

TOM ELLIOTT

The AFL’s new-look “respect and responsibility” policy will streamline the process for complaints against AFL employees.

Kate Jenkins, the architect of the policy, told Tom Elliott the existing procedures were confusing.

“The AFL needs to do a better job at making clear where people can go to,” she said on Thursday.

Ms Jenkins said the new system will make procedural fairness easier.

“We need to be a bit more focused on the person complaining,” she said.

“It’s not a process that says ‘if you come to us, we will completely believe you no matter what’.

“But it is a process that says ‘we will treat you respectfully’.”
