Caro bakes the AFL’s inaction on “respect and responsibility” policy
Caroline Wilson has blasted the AFL over its “respect and responsibility” policy.
Wilson told Sportsday the league has admitted the policy isn’t up to scratch, but still hasn’t done anything to fix it.
“They admitted nearly two years ago that the policy was inadequate,” Wilson said on Wednesday.
“The policy still hasn’t been changed.
“It hasn’t been changed since Milne and Montagna.”
In 2004, St Kilda player Stephen Milne was investigated, and ultimately cleared, over allegations of rape.
The policy is now in the spotlight after a photo was leaked of a topless woman wearing a 2017 premiership medal.
The AFL has taken up the investigation into the scandal after police announced on Tuesday they were dropping their involvement.
Wilson said she expects the scandal to be resolved in the “not-too-distant future”.
“I would imagine as early as next week,” she said.
“I think Richmond will end up making the call, and they’ll do that with the AFL looking very closely over its shoulder.
“I think the player will be suspended for at least a couple of weeks.”
