Geelong president discusses playing a final at Simonds Stadium
Geelong has secured a “home” Qualifying Final.
However, there is a reasonable chance the Cats will play Richmond in the first week of the finals, which would mean the match won’t be played at their home ground.
A Geelong v Richmond final would almost certainly be staged at the MCG.
Geelong president Colin Carter told 3AW Football there’s no point lobbying the AFL because the decision has probably already been made.
“They think through all of the options (in advance),” Carter said on Sunday.
“I think the die is cast, it’s just that we don’t know about it yet.”
Carter said the Cats have no qualms about playing on the MCG either.
Geelong has won seven of its 11 matches at the G since the start of 2016, but only two of its last seven finals on that ground.
