Matthew Richardson says Gold Coast must play hardball over Gary Ablett
Matthew Richardson has called on Gold Coast to negotiate hard for Gary Ablett.
Ablett is set to return to Geelong at the end of the season, but the Tiger legend told 3AW Football the Suns must make sure they’re properly compensated.
“They can’t let a player of that calibre go for nothing,” Richardson said.
“They’ve put seven years’ investment into Gary.
“The Suns have to play hardball on this.”
But Cameron Ling says it’s more complicated than that.
“Geelong can’t and shouldn’t give up too much for him,” Lingy said.
“This is still a long way from happening.”
Lingy said 33-year-old Ablett is not worth a first-round pick.
