Richmond CEO’s strong comments on future of season-opening blockbuster
Richmond CEO Shane Dunne is adamant his side shouldn’t lose their season-opening clash against Carlton.
Next year’s start to the season is set to be complicated by the 150th anniversary Test match between Australia and England taking place at the MCG in early March.

But despite the changes to the 2027 season set to take place, Dunne said it was crucial Richmond and Carlton kept hold of the lucrative early-season fixture.
“We think the Carlton (versus) should absolutely be the first game of the season,” he said on 3AW Football.
Both clubs have built this game over many years.”
