Richo calls for ruck nomination rule axing

Richmond great Matthew Richardson has called for the end of the ruck nomination rule.

Richo told Sportsday he wants the game quickened up around stoppages.

“I don’t mind if they get rid of the (ruck nomination) rule,” he said.

“For the sake of the game, the waste of time we have at the moment getting people to nominate and the farce it has become – just get rid of it.

“The umpires have tried to quicken the game up over the last few weeks because they were taking far too long but I’d be happy if they got rid of (the ruck nomination rule), I’ve said that all year and I’m not going to change.”
