Carlton great Robert Walls says the Blues have a “hard edge” about them under Michael Voss he hasn’t seen from the club for at least a decade.

Walls joined 3AW on Thursday to discuss Carlton’s super impressive start to the season.

“I’m seeing a team that is united and a team with a hard edge to it that it hasn’t had for a decade or more,” he said.

“Michael Voss has come in and set standards that the players don’t compromise on.”

Walls said an unlikely candidate also deserved some credit for the “maturity” the Blues were playing with.

Coincidently, that person will be in Collingwood’s coaching box against the Blues on Sunday – Brendon Bolton.

“He deserves some credit, because he gave a lot of those players, who will be playing on Sunday, their first 40, 50 games of league football when they were a struggling team but he kept playing those kids,” Walls said.
