Greater Western Sydney’s medical department is set to come under further scrutiny following another setback to a key player.

Toby Greene will have surgery this week on an ankle he hurt in the semi-final.

AFL.com.au reporter Riley Beveridge said on Sportsday the Giants had hoped it would heal naturally.

It hasn’t and he’ll now be sidelined until after Christmas.

The Giants have been plagued with injury problems in recent years, putting a major dint in their hopes of winning their first premiership.

“There have been some rumblings about the medical department up there,” Gerard Healy said.
