Rumour update: Community rallies around bowls club attacked by vandals

A bowls club in Melbourne’s inner-north has been overwhelmed at the community response since appearing on 3AW Breakfast earlier this week.

On Monday, Green Vandal told The Rumour File, the attack on the Flemington and Kensington Bowling club was the fifth since October last year.

Today, Club secretary Oliver Warren, shared some good news with 3AW Breakfast.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the response we’ve received, people are rightly outraged by the attacks,” he said.

“The boss at Berry Bowling Systems who put our green in, heard me on Monday on 3AW, he got in touch and people volunteered to come in out of leave to get the green ready for our competition.”

“It’s an amazing effort by them.”

Oliver also said that The Rumour File contributor has since donated his prize to the club.

“We’ll raffle it off to raise money for the club.”
