Sam McClure reacts to ‘pretty significant’ appointment for the AFL

The AFL have appointed Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann as the league’s new footy performance boss, as part of a reshuffle at AFL House.

Senior Sports Affairs Reporter at The Age, Sam McClure, said it’s a “pretty significant day for the AFL”.

“They’ve got their man,” McClure told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“My understanding is that he was really keen to do a footy based role, for the change of pace.”

Swann will depart the Lions next month to take up the role at the AFL.
