Channel 10 is looming as a possible player in the AFL’s next broadcast rights deal, says Sam McClure.

Scoop had the latest on Gillon McLachlan’s trip to the United States on 3AW on Tuesday.

He said CBS, which owns streaming service Paramount+, was in the mix to possibly secure a deal.

“Interestingly enough, CBS also own Channel 10,” Sam McClure pointed out.

“I just get the sense something is happening there.”

3AW Football’s Leigh Matthews, who appears on Channel 7, the current free-to-air TV rights holder, said it was an obvious move for the AFL to make.

“An auction is what they are looking for, and maybe this is what kicks it off,” he said.
