Melbourne forward Joel Smith has been provisionally suspended effective immediately for a potential breach of the anti-doping code, after testing positive for cocaine during the home and way season.

Wide World of Sports host Sam McClure spoke to Neil Mitchell on what happens from here for Smith, and how long he could miss, pending the ongoing investigation by Sport Integrity Australia.

McClure referenced then Collingwood players Josh Thomas and Lachie Keeffe, who were suspended back in 2015 for two years after returning a positive drug sample.
