Sam Powell-Pepper makes himself ‘unavailable for selection’ due to AFL investigation
Sam Powell-Pepper has made himself “unavailable” for Saturday night’s crucial clash with Geelong, says Port Adelaide.
The Power said the young midfielder’s mental state had been “compromised” by an AFL investigation into his behaviour at an Adelaide bar earlier this month.
“Given the investigation is still continuing, Sam believes his focus has been compromised ahead of Saturday night’s game and therefore has decided to make himself unavailable for selection,” the Power said in a statement.
“Port Adelaide will continue to provide support for Sam as the AFL investigation continues.”
Port Adelaide chief Keith Thomas said earlier this week he was surprised the investigation was still ongoing.
