The first modern Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon certainly laid the foundations for the blockbuster it would go on to become.
It was a dramatic draw, with thousands of fans locked outside of the MCG as 94,825 crammed into the ground.
It remains the second highest ever home and away attendance on record.
