Switched on schoolgirl’s campaign to have air-conditioning in her school
A switched on schoolgirl activist is fundraising and lobbying the government for air-conditioning at her primary school.
Tilly Bowman spoke to Neil Mitchell this morning about her campaign.
The Year 5 and 6 classrooms at Elsternwick Primary School don’t have air-conditioning.
She estimates they need $25,000, but she says it’s a hard slug trying to get the money.
“At my school, as you know it’s been really hot this summer,” she said.
“Many of our classrooms have air-conditioning, but my classroom but the other Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms don’t have air-conditioning.
“We’ve managed to get a temperature of up to 36 degrees in our classroom. It was extremely hot!”
Neil Mitchell: “You’re an activist!”
She told Neil it was hard to focus when temperatures soar in the classroom.
