Seven players Matthew Lloyd says are on the ‘verge of explosion’ and becoming elite

Matthew Lloyd says Sam De Koning has the potential to be “the next big thing” in the AFL.

The Essendon great listed seven players he said weren’t elite yet, but on the “verge of exploding” and becoming some of the best players in the game.

Geelong’s De Koning was number one on the list.

“I think he’s the next big thing in football,” Lloyd said.
