‘Shake my head’: Leigh Matthews’ pointed message for Chris Fagan critics

Leigh Matthews says he’s mystified by the criticism of Chris Fagan’s post-match press conference following Brisbane’s loss to GWS.

Fagan admitted that he didn’t have immediate answers for why his side were so heavily beaten by the Giants, saying he was confident the club would soon return to the success of recent years.

While Matthews said he personally wouldn’t have referred to the past, he was mystified Fagan was copping criticism for the manner in which he answered questions after the game.

“I wouldn’t have referred to what happened in the last few years- I would’ve been referring two weeks ago when they trashed Melbourne at the MCG,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“I shake my head, people who are talking about coaches and coaching press conferences haven’t been victim of coaches press conferences before.”
