Shorter break no excuse for Carlton loss according to Geelong defender

Geelong defender Zach Guthrie wasn’t in the mood to use a shorter break as an excuse for his side’s loss to Carlton on Sunday.

The Cats were well beaten by the Blues, having come off a six-day break following the Easter Thursday blockbuster.

Speaking to 3AW Football after the match, Guthrie said his focus was immediately turning to Geelong’s showdown against ladder-leaders Collingwood next Saturday night.

“We’re usually pretty good off six-day breaks and we have another one next week ahead of Collingwood,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to that challenge.”
