Simon Goodwin explains why Jake Lever isn’t playing tonight
Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin says the Demons are simply playing it safe with star defender Jake Lever, who is a late out for Wednesday night’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.
Goodwin told 3AW Football that Lever had ruptured his plantar fascia in his foot and while that was good news for Lever’s recovery, long-term, he simply wasn’t able to get up for the first game of the season.
“He was just too sore,” Goodwin said, confirming Adam Tomlinson would replace Lever in the side.
