Sly: Why ‘dumb-dumb’ shootings are on the rise

John ‘Sly’ Silvester says the failed assassination of Sam Abdulrahim as he left Fawkner cemetery on Saturday was ‘a case of dumb-dumbs with dumb-dumb bullets”.

The former Mongols bikie was shot eight times in a broad daylight ambush in a busy area, and there was dashcam footage of the attack.

Sly says we’re seeing more and more “spectacularly inept” shootings in Victoria because of firearms prohibition orders.

“There’s been 1500 of those put out, which means the top end of the Middle Eastern gangs and the bikie gangs can’t carry guns, so they franchise it off to clean skins or prospects who don’t have the experience,” he told Stephen Quartermain and Elise Elliott, filling in for Ross and Russel.

“Before that they’d carry guns and if they saw their target they’d shoot him.”
