St Kilda suffers serious double injury blow

St Kilda has been dealt a cruel double injury blow, with Jake Carlisle suffering a punctured lung and Josh Bruce breaking his leg.

The Saints revealed the news on Thursday.

Carlisle was involved in a heavy collision in Sunday’s thrilling win over Melbourne, while Bruce was almost certain to make his return to the AFL this week from a back injury.

He fractured his fibula after colliding with a teammate during a marking contest at training.

Bruce is expected to be out for the season.

Carlisle, meanwhile, suffered a “complication” in the treatment of a rib injury.
