Stephen Coniglio’s ‘brutally honest’ revelation on big contract call

GWS Giants star Stephen Coniglio has opened up for the first time on resiting rival offers to sign a long-term deal to stay at the Ginats.

Coniglio had offers from clubs in Victoria and his Western Australia, but ultimately decided to sign a monster seven-year extension back in 2019.

Speaking on 3AW Football’s Saturday Sit Down, the 30-year-old revealed just how close he came to departing.

“I’m going to be brutally honest,” he told 3AW.

“I thought even a week or two before I made the decision to stay, I was leaving the club.”

In a wide-ranging and expansive chat, he also opened up on the importance of his family, being coached by Adam Kingsley and his love of the culture at the Giants.
