Suspended IVF procedures to resume in Victoria
Some IVF procedures which were suspended as part of a 90-day ban on non-urgent elective surgeries in Victoria will resume today, with others set to restart next week.
It comes after public backlash to the inclusion of IVF in the surgery pause.
The Chief Health Officer has provided advice that restrictions on IVF procedures can be removed from suspension as the specialist nature of the workforce, facilities and equipment used are not required to support the pandemic response.
Some services will restart today, and hospitals will scale up their operations to enable procedures to return from 11.59pm next Tuesday, January 25.
