The Swans are claiming Lance Franklin injured himself at the new Perth stadium.

Franklin was left out of Sydney’s side for the Round 6 clash with Geelong due to a heel injury he’s been carrying since the opening round.

Swans football manager Tom Harley stopped short of blaming the playing surface for the injury, but told 3AW Football it definitely happened there.

Tim Lane: Is it attributable to Optus Stadium?

Tom Harley: Without putting too blunt a point on it – yes.

“He pulled up sore from that game,” Harley said.

“We’ve been able to manage his pain for three weeks following that game, it just got to a stage now where he wasn’t able to manage it.

“He hasn’t been able to train a lot since then.

“We’re certainly not apportioning blame to anyone… I’m sure the people at Optus Stadium and the AFL will be right across it and try to rectify that.”
