Tasmania AFL team won’t happen without new stadium, according to CEO

Brendon Gale has again made it clear the Tasmania Devils won’t enter the AFL without the construction of a new stadium.
As the merits of the new stadium are debated in Tasmanian parliament, the CEO of the AFL’s prospective 19th team says there’s no room for negotiation on the planned covered venue at Macquarie Point.

“It’s been made very clear from day one that the issuance of a full licence is conditional on the delivery of a stadium,” he said on 3AW Football.
“If there’s no new stadium, there’s no new team. It’s really important and non-negotiable.”
Gale also fired back at suggestions from Cricket Australia Todd Greenberg that the design of the stadium’s roof could have an impact on cricket matches at the venue.
