Sam McClure says the time has come for Brownlow Medal voting to be taken off umpires and given to the AFL’s coaches.

But former AFL umpires boss Jeff Gieschen said umpires should continue to vote.

“I always felt they got it right, or very close,” he said on 3AW’s Wide World of Sports.
