The Gather Round issue SA premier and Leigh Matthews completely disagree about

South Australia premier Peter Malinauskas completely disagrees with Leigh Matthews’ view that a Showdown should take place in Gather Round.

Leigh has said on multiple occasions that Port Adelaide and Adelaide should play each other during the round, to minimise the disadvantage for the 16 clubs who travel to South Australia.

Mr Malinauskas joined 3AW Football on Saturday – alongside Leigh Matthews – and said he did agree with the AFL great’s view.

“I completely disagree with you,” Mr Malinauskas said on 3AW about the potential of a Gather Round Showdown.

“When Melbourne-based clubs travel 11 times a year, let’s talk about that. But they don’t and never will.”
