An idea from Carlton head coach Michael Voss on Opening Round has “excited” Matthew Lloyd on Wide World of Sports, ahead of the first match of the season between Sydney and Hawthorn.

The Essendon great admitted he doesn’t feel the same energy this week compared to the traditional build-up to Carlton and Richmond at the MCG.

And he played some audio of Voss which could be a solution to the lack of excitement!

“That excites me … that gets me up and about,” Lloyd said.
