Colin Carter says he’d be “really surprised” if Tasmania’s bid for a 19th AFL team isn’t successful.

The man who wrote the report on the issue for the AFL told 3AW it was now or never.

And he’s rejected the idea the bid should hinge on whether or not a new stadium is built.

The interview left one of Tasmania’s favourite sons, Matthew Richardson, feeling buoyed about the state’s chances.

“I feel good when I hear Colin say he thinks it’s a yes,” he said.
