Leigh Matthews has teed off on lawyer involvement in the AFL, claiming “nothing good comes from lawyer involvement”.
He honed in on the Jacob van Rooyen tribunal hearing, which went for four hours, with the AFL great deeming the whole concept with lawyers getting involved in AFL decisions “illogical”.
Matthews also took aim at the chair of the independent panel into the ongoing Hawthorn racism investigation, Bernard Quinn KC, stating “no one is worrying about confidentiality now” following a reported leak in the investigation.
