The ‘problem’ Melbourne could face following season-opening loss to Sydney
Tony Shaw says Melbourne will need to sharpen up forward of centre as the season unfolds if they want to challenge in September.
While not wanting to too much into the season-opener – which saw Sydney defeat the Dees by 22 points in front over 40,012 fans at the SCG – he forecast a potential scoring problem if Simon Goodwin’s side couldn’t find their best mix.
“(Sydney) was fantastic,” he said on 3AW Football.

“They spread the load better (in the forward line) better than Melbourne did, this is going to be a problem for Melbourne.
“Melbourne’s top four players have an issue – they’re not super quick.”
