The reason Jeremy McGovern spent so much time on the bench while Buddy dominated

The Eagles fitness staff are behind Jeremy McGovern’s spell on the bench.

McGovern had an extended break on the bench during the third quarter, during which time his opponent Lance Franklin had a big impact against more undersized defenders.

McGovern told 3AW Football most of the time he spent on the bench was when Franklin went off the ground too.

“The fitness staff just wanted me to have a quick spell,” he said after the game.

“I just do what I’m told when I’m out there.

“That’s just footy.”
