The president of the peak pharmacist body has warned pharmacies will cut their hours and reduce services when 60-day scripts are introduced in September.

President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Trent Twomey, says pharmacies fill a gap in the health system outside of business hours, and the community will suffer if they’re forced to reduce their hours.

“There’s not many other pieces of health infrastructure that’s open on your way to school, on your way home from work … so pharmacy ends up being the backstop for people that need help and support in non-business hours,” he told Neil Mitchell.
