‘They were worried’: Sam McClure questions ‘shoddy’ process in Melbourne head coaching job

Sam McClure had a strong reaction to the news of Geelong assistant coach Steven King getting the Melbourne head coaching job over favourite Nathan Buckley.

McClure questioned the process, stating Melbourne were “worried” about Buckley meeting with Tasmania in the coming days.

“This isn’t impugning Steven King at all,” McClure said on Wide World of Sports.

“It appears to me a shoddy process.

“Their judgment was clearly impacted by one of the two key candidates.”
