Tony Shaw’s defence of a young Magpie
Tony Shaw has launched a passionate defence of Darcy Moore.
Moore has been floated as a player on the way out of Collingwood, particularly if the Magpies want to target Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch.
The Magpies have played Moore, 22, in various key posts in his 51 games, and switched him to defence in 2018.
“He came to the club as a forward, maybe a mobile ruckman,” Shawry said.
“To play him how they have played him for the first three years of his career – they’ve cruelled him.”
Shaw said Moore is wanted at the Pies, and won’t be traded away to make space in the salary cap for a big signing.
“The only reason Darcy Moore will leave Collingwood is if he wants to go for himself.”
