‘They’ve got a long way to go’: Newsbreaker sheds light on Shiel deal

Trade Wrap newsbreaker Mitch Cleary has shed some light on how far away Essendon is to striking a deal to secure wantaway Giants midfielder Dylan Shiel.

Bombers list boss Adrian Dodoro and his GWS counterpart Jason McCartney are currently locked in a game of brinkmanship, with Cleary saying both parties were still a fair way away from a deal being agreed to.

“The Giants and Bombers spoke again this afternoon,” he said.

“Speaking to someone involved in that negotiation, they said (both parties) were two rounds into a 12-round title fight.

“They’ve got a long way to go, this one could go right down to the wire to 8:30pm on Wednesday night.
